November Festivals

Nov. 1-2, Blackbeard's Pirate Jamboree, Ocracoke – Come celebrate Ocracoke’s unique pirate history with a weekend of swashbuckling fun. The Jamboree features an historically-accurate pirate encampment and a reenactment of the infamous pirate Blackbeard’s last battle. Interactive living history exhibits, sea shanties, music, and a shopping marketplace of seafaring fine arts and wares provide entertainment for all ages. The event culminates when pirate and militia crews march to Springer’s Point to honor those killed in Blackbeard’s last battle with a eulogy, hymns, and final cannon salute.

Nov. 2-3, North Carolina Spot Festival, Hampstead – Serving as Pender County’s longest-standing festival, the Spot Festival celebrates one of Pender County's most abundant fish types, the Spot! Complete with live music & entertainment, food vendors, inflatable rides, and Hampstead's largest firework display, the festival is fun for the whole family. 

Nov. 2-3, North Carolina Whirligig Festival, Wilson – Named the official folk art of North Carolina, Vollis Simpson’s whimsical, wind-powered whirligigs have delighted visitors at museums in New York, Atlanta, Baltimore and Raleigh. Tour the Whirligig Park, see live entertainment and more at this festival celebrating the whirligig. The park will be offically dedicated Nov. 2 at a free, public dedication event. 

Nov. 16-17, Durham Art Walk and Holiday Market, Durham - The Durham Art Walk Holiday Market is a celebration of visual arts and fine crafts held in downtown Durham, featuring the work of numerous talented artists in multiple locations. This event kicks off the holiday season by bringing thousands of art lovers for a weekend of shopping and exploration of all that Durham has to offer including live music, world-class restaurants, great shopping, innovative businesses and fascinating historic sites. 

Nov. 20-24, Cucalorus Film Festival, Wilmington - This isn’t your typical film fest where you sit in a seat and just watch movies. There are bonfires, moonshine and new friends to be had while you watch a great selection of local and international films. Supported by the N.C. Arts Council.

*Nov. 22-24, Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration, N.C. Museum of History, Raleigh - Musicians, dancers, artists, storytellers and authors from North Carolina’s eight state-recognized tribes will gather for this popular family event at the N.C. Museum of History.

Nov. 23-24, Piedmont Craftsmen Fair, Winston-Salem - Quality craftsmanship and excellent design have always been the hallmarks of Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair. Held annually since 1963 by Piedmont Craftsmen, Inc., the fair showcases the handwork of more than 150 fine artisans from across the southeast in a setting that allows shoppers to meet the craftspeople, talk to them about their work, and view demonstrations of craft techniques.

Nov. 23-24, Celebration of Seagrove Potters, Seagrove – Seagrove is regarded as the "Pottery Capital of the United States" and is home to more than 100 potters. This annual festival provides the opportunity to meet most of the potters, along with other local artisans, all at one location. Each year the festival features a specific potter with rich roots to the tradition and the area. Supported by the N.C. Arts Council.

Nov. 24-26, Carrboro Film Festival, Carrboro - A celebration of film art, featuring world class films of every length and genre, Carrboro Film Festival is designed to celebrate the art and passion behind creating films of all sorts of genres by allowing film fans and filmmakers alike to appreciate the art through screenings, workshops, networking events and awesome parties.
