Narrowing Your Topic

When finalizing your topic choice, you want to be sure to find one that is the right size. If you choose one that is too big, it can be hard to fit into your project's word or time limits. A topic that is too focused can make finding sources during research difficult. Creating a topic funnel by asking Who, What, When, and Where questions may help you focus your interests to the perfect size topic. Don't forget to keep the annual theme in mind!

Keeping Your Topic Connected

A common NHD mistake is forgetting to show a topic's theme connection in the project itself. Once you have picked your topic, use this graphic organizer to plan out how to tie to the theme in each project section.
