Greenville’s new urban trail, The Emerald Loop, intersects with existing greenways and creates connection with surrounding neighborhoods and city districts. In addition to the creative placemaking projects on the loop, the Emerald Express, a free circulator bus, transports residents and visitors to amenities across Greenville. The first Emerald Express bus shelter honors an African American neighborhood that once existed in that location, and compliments the Sycamore Hill Gateway Plaza. DNCR’s investment is funding a rotating mural featuring artists from the Black Creatives of Pitt County. The mural will include lighting and audio elements and will be a prominent stop on the African American Cultural Trail of Greenville-Pitt County.
