Triangle Region State Parks
Nature and history combine at the state parks and recreation areas in the Triangle.
Remnants of the mills that once dominated the area dot Raleigh's William B. Umstead State Park, while up the road at Eno River State Park in Durham, you'll find a restored mill and several homesteads. Near Lillington, you can get up close to the massive Raven Rock, an ageless landmark for river travelers, and, in Spring Lake, Carvers Creek State Park preserves what was once a retreat for a member of the Rockefeller family.
