Saturdays in March: Free Women's History Focus Tours at Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum

Discover the amazing women who lived, worked, and studied at Palmer Memorial Institute through "Women's Work," a women's history focus tour presented by the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum during Women's History Month. Tours will be offered every Saturday in March from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1 .p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Participants will explore gender roles at Palmer, become inspired by Dr. Brown's role in the women's rights movement, and learn about the accomplishments made by Palmer faculty and alumnae. Palmer Memorial closed in the 1970s and reopened as Charlotte Hawkins Brown State Historic Site in 1987.

Tours are free, but reservations are suggested. School, church, and civic groups may schedule this focus tour during regular museum hours, with advance notice.

The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum is located on Hwy. 70 in Sedalia, between Burlington and Greensboro, or I-85/40 Exit 135; follow the brown signs off the interstate to the site. Operating hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum is part of the Division of State Historic Sites within the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
