The North Carolina Symphony is coming to town! The Symphony will bring beloved holiday music back to Jacksonville with Holiday Pops, a tradition that has become a favorite across the state. Led by Symphony Associate Conductor David Glover, the concert takes place in the Robert B. Gaskins Auditorium on the campus of Jacksonville High School on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
“The North Carolina Symphony celebrates the holidays so perfectly,” said Maggie Royster, President of the Onslow County Chapter. “Our community is very fortunate to have this incredible orchestra pay a visit to help get Jacksonville into the spirit of the season.”
The state’s premier orchestra will present treasured celebrations of the season, beginning with “Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly,” A Merrie Fugue by Hershey Kay, followed by a medley of well-known carols, including Good King Wenceslas, Silent Night, Joy to the World, and What Child is This. The program also includes orchestral holiday classics with “Dance of the Tumblers” from Snow Maiden and Polonaise from Christmas Eve by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Waldteufel’s Les Painteurs. The orchestra will take the audience on a wonderful journey with selections from “The Polar Express,” and will warm their hearts with selections from “Frozen.” Audiences can sing familiar favorite songs along with the orchestra. Song sheets will be provided.
Tickets to the Holiday Pops concert are $27 for adults, $24 for seniors and military, and $8 for students and college students 26 or younger with a valid college ID.
