UPDATE: This program has been postponed until Spring 2017.

From pay vouchers and army account books, court records and letters and diaries of men and women who served the colonies, the State Archives of North Carolina holds thousands of Revolutionary War era documents. The "Liberty of Death! - Finding Revolutionary Era Sources at the State Archives" workshop Oct. 8, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., may help you discover ways to connect with an ancestor of the times.

Archivists from the State Archives will lead the workshop in the State Archives Building at 109 E. Jones St., Raleigh. Records reveal that citizens served not only on the battlefield, but by giving land, food, money or other services. The era of discontent led to hostility, violence and the final separation from England.

"Liberty or Death!" is sponsored by the Friends of the Archives and is part of Archives Month in North Carolina. Workshop registration is $20, $18 for Friends of the Archives, and includes a boxed lunch. Preregistration is required. View the agenda online and mail in your registration formby Sept. 22.
