This summer youth ages 10-17 can learn to march and perform with the Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Corps through a five-day camp held June 20-24 on the Tryon Palace grounds.
Musicians were an important part of the 18th-century military, and participants can become a part of that tradition this summer at the fife and drum camp.
Participants will learn from experienced instructors the basics of reading music, scales and rudiments, marching, history, and songs that will prepare them to join the Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Corps, which plays at numerous events throughout the year in New Bern and the surrounding area.
The camp is $150 per person and $125 for Tryon Palace Foundation members. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants.
