Looking for something to do in downtown Kinston on the holiday weekend? The CSS Neuse Civil War Interpretive Center will be open the 4th of July.
Visit the museum to learn about the building, operation, destruction and recovery of the CSS Neuse, the only remaining commissioned Confederate ironclad ram above the water and view exhibits regarding the region's Civil War history. In honor of our nation's independence, the staff will be dressed in Civil War-era clothing and providing demonstrations throughout the day.
The CSS Neuse Civil War Interpretive Center offers state of the art exhibits that invite visitors to learn about the ironclad gunboat. The Confederate Navy launched the Neuse in an ill-fated attempt to gain control of the lower Neuse River and the occupied city of New Bern.
The Center is located at 100 N. Queen St., Kinston and open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adult admission is $5, seniors (65 and older)/active military (with military ID) $4, students (ages 3 - 12) $3, and children (2 and under) free. Discounted rates available for scheduled groups of 10 or more.
