Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale meets the comic storytelling of Italian Commedia dell’Arte- a style of Comedic Theatre developed in Italia in the mid- Sixteenth Century. It was rooted in the use of larger-than-life characters, known as archetypes, in order for the audience to easily relate and identify to them. In this modern day, we can perhaps relate such broad style of art to the work of some of the earliest animators of the classic cartoons. The stories are simple and we as the audience, become enthralled with its energy, attention to details and universal sense of humor.
