“Saturday at the QAR Lab” Tours Showcase Artifacts from Blackbeard’s Shipwreck

Fascinated by pirates? Spellbound by Blackbeard? Want to see items last touched by buccaneers?  Do you wonder what happens with artifact conservation? You’ll want to join the Nov. 19 “Saturday at the QAR Lab” tours of the Queen Anne’s Revenge Conservation Lab in Greenville.

Conservators and archaeologists who recover these artifacts from the shipwreck site near Beaufort will explain the process of conserving, documenting and investigating Blackbeard’s flagship. The use of x-rays, air scribes and electrolysis all will be explained and gold grains, grenades and cannons will be among the objects displayed.

The free tours will run every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Space is limited and reservations are required. Visit www.qaronline.org/november-19th-special-event-tour to reserve your place. The QAR Lab is located at East Carolina University at 1157 VOA Site C Rd., Greenville.
