Considered the Master of Funk Music, George Clinton was born on July 22, 1941, in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He led the bands' Parliament and Funkadelic and developed the psychedelic funk sound as it transformed funk music into a genre of its own. In the early 1960s, George Clinton was a songwriter for Motown Records. However, later in his career in the 1970s', the Parliament/Funkadelic found success arranging hits under the influence of their idols James Brown and Jimi Hendrix. During this time period, they originated psychedelic funk exploring different sounds, technology, and euphoria. Throughout the '70s, Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic produced a vast collection of anthems and hits putting out 40 R&B hit singles with 3 number 1's and multiple platinum albums. 

In the 1980s, Geroge Clinton released multiple solo projects releasing hits such as "Atomic Dog", "Loopzilla", and "Last Dance". He also produced and arranged albums for his fellow bandmate Bootsy Collins and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as working with the Artist, Prince, under his label Paisley Park Records. George Clinton's influence is spread across many genres, famously, Hip Hop.

 As many artists considered Clinton one of the forefathers of rap alongside James Brown for their major influence as many artists would sample their work. Dr. Dre, one of the greatest producers of all time, sampled Clinton's music often to help usher in the G-Funk era in the early 90's. To display his influence over Hip Hop, George Clinton worked with many artists the likes Ice Cube, 2pac, Redman, Lil Kim, Wu-Tang Clan, and Outkast. 

In 1997, Clinton was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 alongside the Parliament-Funkadelic. He was also inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2019, he and Parliament-Funkadelic were recipients of the Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award.
