The N.C. Division of State Parks and Recreation will hold a Jan. 27 groundbreaking event at Hammocks Beach State Park to celebrate the start of renovations to the park’s Teachers’ Building.

Time: 1 p.m. Location: Hammocks Beach State Park, Swansboro, N.C.—Teacher’s Building, MainlandThe $3.6 million renovation funded by the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund will transform the teachers’ building into a 5,340 square foot community space for event rentals including conferences, workshops, family gatherings and more. The new space will include interpretive exhibits about the building’s history, modern audio/visual equipment, and a warming kitchen.
