North Carolina’s Hispanic population was 932,221 in 2016. They are in engaged in communities, work in and own businesses and are a vibrant presence. A presentation, “The Hispanic Impact on North Carolina’s Economy,” will be shared by N.C. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Chair Henry Stewart, Thursday, May 17. The 12:30 p.m. presentation is part of the “Thursday Talk” series of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources EEO Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Wake and Mecklenburg Counties are home to just over one in four of the Latino population. Although smaller in percentage, rural counties have seen faster Latino population growth in the past 25 years, according to the University of North Carolina, Carolina Population Center. They are workers, consumers and entrepreneurs, and are helping to shape North Carolina’s future.
In addition to being chair of the N.C. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Stewart is principal of OneDigital, a health and benefits management company. There will be question and answer period after the presentation.
