Visitors are invited to experience the ongoing conservation of the infamous pirate Blackbeard's flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, at the fourth annual Queen Anne’s Revenge Conservation Lab Open House, Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free for this fun and educational event, “Blackbeard: The Science of Pirates, 300th Edition.”
This year marks the 300th anniversary of the ship’s grounding and of the death of notorious pirate Blackbeard, and the lab is celebrating this intersection of science and North Carolina history. Be an archaeological conservator for a day and learn how the QAR Lab staff use chemistry, physics, technology, and more through fun hands-on activities and behind-the-scenes demonstrations!
The event is part of the North Carolina Science Festival, with a focus on the science of food and drink, and will feature artifacts and activities related to food and cooking.
The QAR Lab is located at East Carolina University at 1157 VOA Site C Rd., Greenville.
