Colonial Cape Fear Life Showcased at Port Brunswick Days

Visitors can stop by a colonial tavern or get their hands dirty making bricks during Port Brunswick Days Oct. 21-22 at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site. Living historians will demonstrate daily life in this early port town on the lower Cape Fear River. The free public program will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Other period activities will include 19th century cooking and brewing demonstrations, and a leeching demonstration by the surgeon. Visitors will hear the roar of artillery and feel the boom beneath their feet! Guests can dip a beeswax candle to take home and enjoy as all ages enjoy much more free fun.

The mission of Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site is to preserve and interpret the history of Brunswick Town, the Cape Fear region’s first permanent settlement, and Fort Anderson, the Civil War fortification built at the site.
