Field Trip Fund Manager

As part of the Education & Outreach team, I help teachers apply for and receive field trip reimbursement through the Learning Happens Here Field Trip Fund. I am passionate about the "Next Generation" of citizens and learners, which brought me to this role of connecting students to interactive field trips in our state's sites. Buildings, historic sites, parks, nature, artifacts, books, stories, and museums are creative platforms that help kids and adults understand their community, form their identity, and strengthen their ties to self and others. I am excited to coordinate these educational opportunities for Title I students across the state!

I’m from Greensboro, North Carolina, and I love all things about my state. I spend time with my husband, our baby, and beagle Yogi Parker, jamming to music, and exploring outside. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in History and a BA in Anthropology with a Minor in Archaeology. I began my career in the museum field, leading to a Master's in Public History from North Carolina State University. I completed my education with a Post-Bac Certificate in Historic Preservation from UNCG. Before DNCR, my museum career in education and collections management took me to the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum, the North Carolina Museum of History, the Greensboro History Museum, Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, and Old Salem Museums & Gardens.

A Fun Fact About Me: Gardening is my number #1 hobby, and I can talk your ear off about the endless benefits of native plants. I aim to combine my love of gardening with my love of The Lord of the Rings and create a little hobbit hole in my yard.
