Hugo Govea

Outreach Assistant

I have the grand opportunity to engage with the amazing individuals of North Carolina by attending outreach events across the state hosted by our sites or community partners and informing the public about the programs that provide educational experiences within our sites. I provide and share information about each site's free educational resources and the department, reach out to communities, libraries, and organizations for partnerships, and help and support K-12 educators with our vast resources and professional development training. The best part of my job is to talk about our beautiful state and guide the public to explore our rich history, culture, and nature.

I was born and raised in North Carolina as a first-generation Mexican American. I graduated from East Carolina University with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Child Development and Family Relations. I have a customer service background of 10 plus years with a sprinkle of sales added. My professional career has always been geared toward providing a service to the public, which aligns with my passion for helping others.  I am passionate about providing a great experience to anyone I engage with. Making someone smile or have a better day is the best gift I can ever receive. What better way to change our world than by providing smiles and enriching people's lives with positivity? Besides making people smile, I have a huge love for space, anime, and sleep.
