Closures

Many of our locations have been heavily impacted by the aftermath of Helene and other weather events. We are actively assessing the damage and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
 

State Parks:

  • Chimney Rock State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Crowders Mountain State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Elk Knob State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Falls Lake State Recreation Area: All accesses and most campsites are open. Boat ramps Highway 50, Holly Point and Rolling View are closed. Some shelters are Sandling Beach and Rolling View are closed. A few campsites at Holly Point are also closed.
  • Gorges State Park: The entire park is closed. Mountain Monarch Festival has been cancelled.
  • Grandfather Mountain State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Jordan Lake State Recreation Area: Some campsites are closed. Park staff are contacting campers with affected reservations for options.
  • Lake James State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Lake Norman State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Mount Jefferson State Natural Area: The entire park is closed.
  • Mount Mitchell State Park: The entire park is closed. The park will not reopen until the Blue Ridge Parkway does.
  • New River State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Rendezvous Mountain: The entire park is closed.
  • South Mountains State Park: The entire park is closed.
  • Stone Mountain State Park: The entire park is closed.
