On February 3-4, 2025, 88 committed DNCR educators gathered at the NC Museum of Transportation in Spencer for a two-day professional development conference. The theme, "Pathways to Learning, Discovery, and Collaboration," aimed to strengthen DNCR's support for schools across North Carolina. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration, sharing best practices, and exploring innovative educational approaches.
Throughout the conference, participants engaged in various workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities designed to enhance DNCR's educational initiatives and maximize their effectiveness in local schools.
Sessions were crafted to address the needs of North Carolina educators and students, covering essential topics such as culturally responsive programming, fostering career exploration, and practical field trip strategies. A standout moment was the keynote address by Dr. Sonny Kelly, who inspired attendees by discussing ways to present engaging, diverse stories that inspire connections with audiences.
With 33 presenters and over 13 sessions, including collaborative case studies and interactive roundtables, participants had ample opportunity to share ideas, identify growth areas, and establish actionable goals to improve DNCR's support for schools and communities.
As the conference wrapped up, attendees reflected on their valuable connections. They laid out plans for continued collaboration across DNCR divisions. This event reinvigorated the commitment of DNCR educators and set the stage for more impactful programs and resources for North Carolina schools in the coming months.
Here's to the ongoing learning, discovery, and collaboration journey to support North Carolina's educational community!
