As Secretary of Cultural Resources, Susan Kluttz is in many ways an ambassador of North Carolina culture to other states and countries. Sec. Kluttz, along with Chief Deputy Sec. Karin Cochran and N.C. Arts Council Director Wayne Martin, met with Yonit Stern, Director of Cultural Affairs for the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast United States. Based out of Atlanta, Stern is looking to make cultural resource exchanges throughout the region. She had a special connection with North Carolina thanks to a trip former Cultural Resources Sec. Betty Rae McCain organized to Israel in the 1990s to explore visual art. The secretary and Stern are continuing to explore options for collaboration and exchange related to the visual arts, jazz and theatre.
