North Carolina Literary & Historical Association
North Carolina Literary and Historical Association, established in 1900, is among the oldest organizations of its kind in the nation. Its history is interlinked with that of the North Carolina Office of Archives and History.
Members receive the North Carolina Historical Review, the North Carolina Literary Review and mailings about the annual meeting and special lectures and symposia.
In addition to our annual meeting, we sponsor or co-sponsor a number of symposia and other programs throughout the year. We'll post more details about our annual meetings and those other programs on this page as they become available.
A Legacy Promoting North Carolina
Founded in 1900, our organization's members called on the General Assembly to create what became the Office of Archives and History (OAH) in 1903. Since that time, we've worked to tirelessly to promote OAH and its work, and continue that legacy today by helping to support the diverse programs of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
